Porch Posts

Porch posts are typically square at the bottom and the top

with decorative turning in between. Dimensions can range 

from 4" square on up and are normally solid construction. 

In order to fabricate a post, we laminate 8/4,10/4,12/4, 

or 16/4 material to arrive at the particular post blank 

width (plus a little bit more to square and plane the 

blank to a final true dimension). We normally use 

urea-formaldehyde glue for both interior and exterior 

posts because it has superior bonding capabilities and 

it won't "creep" like polyvinyl glue. In the last 20 

years we have turned thousands of posts with literally 

hundreds of designs. In order to reproduce a particular 

post, it is best to have an example to measure in the shop. However, we can accept a template, pictures, or a drawing with dimensions. Please call or e-mail for instructions.
